So I was under the car over the weekend, replacing the exhaust on V8 #1,
with a 4.2 System from Ron W, and a couple of issues/problems, that I
was hoping to get some input on..



1.       CAT temp sensor, the '90 3.6 uses a 2 wire and is a female cap
type connection, the 4.2's is a 4 wire flare nut type connection. What
(if any) issues are there from NOT running the sensor? It was my
understanding that, the sensor only monitors the temp, if it gets too
hot (too much un-burnt fuel), and then would trip the dash light.



2.       The Crossmember.. well the dozen or so tiny studs that hold it
on, about half of them gave their life upon removal and now there is no
hope of the crossmembers re-installation without using a drill and some
self tapper's or equivalent. What stresses (by not having it on) am I
putting on the car? Also any suggestions (other than self tapping
screws) for re-installation?



Any insight always appreciated..



I replaced the system, which at some point was center muffler delete,
and sounded a bit throaty, but rittled with holes from a poor
replacement and age, with the X-Pipe back system from a 4.2 car, which
even know it's only a couple of years newer, looked only a couple of
years old. Sound?? ..nice and OE quite again...(Stealthy ;-) )
