[V8] What would it take?

I think the guy who bought the $250 5000 might well have gotten a great buy.
If the car cosmetically was in really good shape, and he had paid the four
grand to fix up what was wrong, he might have had a terrific car...assuming
he didn't need to think he got a steal for $250 and it made him a superior
human being.
Buying a V8 for a couple of grand, is OK. IF it is nearly perfect
cosmetically, and then another few grand are put into it to bring it up to
equality mechanically, then you have a six grand V8 or so that is a terrific
car.
What else can you buy for SIX GRAND that gives as much?
I paid my father $2000 for his 1990 100 front wheel drive car that had
125,000 mile on it. The tires were new and it needed nothing at the point
that I bought it, although I knew that I would need to do the timing belt
jazz in five thousand miles. Six thousand miles later, I need to have the
flappy things in the heater fixed, but other than that I now have a very
nice daily driver that I can pour miles onto, and then, if necessary, throw
away.
What else can I have bought for a couple of grand that will do what this car
will do for me. Bear in mind, I have a perfect maintenance history with
this car, so there was no speculation as to the overall condition when I
bought it.
