[V8] Here's an odd, off the wall question....

The large, square exhaust hangers back on the rear muffler of your V8
are Porsche parts, 928.xxx.xxx.xxx

In the 944 world, all the new guys are all gung-ho about squeezing a 928
motor into their 944. Why not? Twice the engine in a lighter body. The
problem arises in space. Pull a 928 engine out of a 928, then try to
get it back in. That, in itself, is a feat. The 928 engine /barely/
fits into a 928, although I have seen someone squeeze an early model
(with the spider intake manifold) into a 914. It took me quite awhile
to reinstall an 87 S4 engine, especially the clutch.

As for other part interchangeability, a lot of the hardware is probably
all the same. The studs, nuts, bolts, possibly injectors, clips, bulbs,
etc. They may have different part numbers, although many Porsche parts
are VAG part numbers (477.xxx.xxx e.g.)
