I know i have discussed this before many times, i used a 200 20v for my donor. I did the fist 3.6 swap and kieth has done a few 4.2's
This swap took me 3 weeks, I was at school full time and working part time. I would have been done sooner, but i got nasty UV eye burns from welding.
pictures!

Parts i used:
v8 subframe
v8 flywheel
016 torsen
3B clutch
200 linkage - must shorten 1"
200 shifter pocket
200 shift boot
200 halfshafts
v8 fron half of the prop shaft
200 rear half of the prop shaft
200 driver side trans mount
v8 pass side trans mount - try to find one, i made a quick steel bracket so i could use the 200 mount.
V8's have dual trans bolt patters, i picked up all new bolts.
Need to rewire cruise controll
need to bypass the nutral safty switch, so you can start the car.

I'd think that if you want to make a V8 5speed, you need a V8 5speed tranny AND rear diffy so you get the dual Torsen of the V8 5speed. I'd consider that more important than the fancy flywheel. I'm not sure the 5k tranny will mate with the V8 rear end, but maybe one from a 200q20v would. Ron has one of those for sale, I think.

I know someone does this from time to time, but I just have to step in
here too. I really want to do a 5sp conversion, but I want to know what
parts I can use - see if this is plausable - especially Ron.
- Buy a type 44 5000 or 100/200 quattro 5spd - use the parts including
transmission, clutch pedal assy, and all related hydraulic components,
shifter linkage etc. Also, use the trans tunnel to 'paste' into the v8.
- Buy one of them there fancy aluminum flywheels from sombody.
I'm sure there would be more but those two things could capture about 95%
of it I think? I know there are two trannys talked about, an 0-1E? and an
0-16? Is this correct? I also know that the one in the lesser type 44,
(like the one I want to use) isn't as 'beefy' as the original one that
came in the v8 - but I really don't drive that hard, so I don't think it
will be a problem. If you think otherwise say it here.
Thanks,
Jason
