[V8] Steering Damper replacement

No - the problem I had was the bolt that holds the damper to the rack  
piston could not come fully out unless the rack was lowered. Maybe  
you could remove the whole tie rod mounting bracket? Scratching a few  
cobwebs here - but maybe that is the trick.

I doubt the 5-speed has anything to do with it, but I have a 5-speed  
and servotronic if that matters.
