I might be putting on a new compressor this summer (currently clutch is
toast, can't seem to find clutches by themselves) and was talking to one
of my mechanics about the pro's and con's of converting.
He can find R12 substitutes for around the same price as (rising) R134a
... $10/can. For that rate, I'll just change the accumulator, orifice
tube, compressor, flush the system, and fill with R12 substitute.
