My first V8 was a 1990 that was Lose Your License Red with Black interior.
I had the car about five or six thousand miles when one dark and stormy
night very suddenly ALL the interior lights went out. I was on the
Interstate going about seventy, when it was just black EVERYwhere.
The problem was the dimmer switch which is worked by a wheel like rheostat
in the upper left corner of the cluster. The dealer was able to solder the
connection that had given up once, but the real fix was to replace the
ENTIRE cluster with a new one from Audi. At the time, $900 plus exchange.
In the end, I was able to buy a dimmer switch from a recycler and had the
Audi dealer's mechanic install it. The part was about ten bucks as I
recall and the dealer charged me $35 to install it. Wouldn't happen now, of
course!
After that, the dash lights were fine until I got rid of the car.

P.S. Never liked Tornado Red anyway.
