What would have been scarry is if everything had held together & me & my oldest daughter Paige drove the car to //sfest & the rim/wheel fell off while I was going way faster than 70 on a local road!
The long & short of it was.... Friday Aug 29th I bolted the last bolt on the front bumper & I had thought the car was finally finished. I mean it took me 4 freaking months to source the Block parts to rebuild, & I don't even wanna get into the mess over my PC motor pieces........ I had to wait for the head pieces to arrive so my machinest could assemble them. Once I got everything I was able to get the motor in the car. I took it for an initial drive just to make sure there were no leaks of anykind. Once I did that I went for a real shake down. I left the pachage store & went prolly 200 yards down the road... 4th gear pulling 100MPH like a bat out of hell... man what torque. Slowed for a sharp right hand turn, straightened out the wheel & my rim flew out of the wheel whell & my d-side front slammed the pavement.
I'm glade it was late out.. prolly 9:30PM. I was thinking that I was lucky no one was driveing, or walking on the oposit side of the street cause my rim/tire surley would have done some damage to anyone who just so happened to be in the line of fire.
But the biggest thing was calling my wife to come with my jack & tools. lets just say it wasn't pleasant!
So I figure it's time to make the car perfect. The last thing would have been body work/respray. I would have liked to have done that later than sooner..... but oh well.
I have looked everywere & have talked to all most everyone but NO brilliant panells to be had. So thats why I'm thinking of haveing some stuff made.
I wanted/want to flare the front & rear fender arches a bit more... so I'll prolly do some experamenting with some extra fenders I have... but I would rather just kill two birds with one stone & have some light weight stuff made & have bigger arches added.
