[V8] Engine Speed sensor???

Kneale,

I've had the reference sensors do the same, but I've also had it work  
where I'd remove the spark plugs (when I checked for flooding) and  
then arm and disarm the alarm with the key.  For some reason I seem  
to remember a built-in lockout to the ignition part of the circuit if  
the alarm is in any way confused.
