On a good working balance device, you would adjust the lever so that it would sense only extra loading on a lowered suspension.  There is provision for adjusting the lever's clearance from the suspension (you insert a drill bit to establish proper gap).
   
  I looked into replacing the first nonfunctional one I encountered, I think on my first 5ktq, and the price then--around 1991--was well upwards of $150.  Today, part # 443614151J  is $226 on the Don Rosen parts list  http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?action=searchCatalogOEM&siteid=611

  On the front/rear pressure balancing lever piece, I wonder if a lowered suspension would have any adverse effect on it (if it were actually working)?
