[V8] Undercar Overhaul

I'm seeing $251 for the balance equalizing regulator thingamabob.  I'll
be replacing it, along with the center proportioning valve and the brake
line (and a host of other crap).

 

I'm sure I'd be able to live without it, and never know the difference,
but I just can't sleep at night after doing all the other brake stuff
only to have what seems like a useful component not be repaired.

On a good working balance device, you would adjust the lever so that it
would sense only extra loading on a lowered suspension.  There is
provision for adjusting the lever's clearance from the suspension (you
insert a drill bit to establish proper gap).

 

I looked into replacing the first nonfunctional one I encountered, I
think on my first 5ktq, and the price then--around 1991--was well
upwards of $150.  Today, part # 443614151J  is $226 on the Don Rosen
parts list
