[V8] What's the value of a catalytic converter?

Actually, evaluating a car that I would love to have, but am concerned about
the price since I will have to do an complete exhaust system including cats
before it will pass inspection.

The dealer cost is wild, but there are alternatives available, I have found.

By value are you buying or selling?

Inexpensive universal cats can be readily found for under 100 bucks each. 

Factory cat cores are worth quite a bit, I've been getting between 50 and
125 each converter. Some BMW converters are worth even more.
