Roger, I would check for broken wires on the engine side of the harness.
Mine started doing the same exact thing after a thorough engine degreasing
using a pressure washer. I haven't had a chance to chase mine down yet, but
have replaced both the sender and oil pump with new units from Audi back
when I was chasing down a less than 5 bar issue I was having ( it was the
sender BTW) I do have a spare cluster I could try, but like I said above, I
suspect its a broken/shorted wire given the timing in which the problem
occurred. just my .02. Allan
