[V8] Report from the Front: no surprises

A bit too soon to tell, but if previous experience is any guide, the choice
will be an entire shaft, complete.

John tells me that he can buy the boot alone, but a gob of grease from
inside of the torn boot yielded some grit, so the proper job is to replace
the joint assembly entirely.

I'll let every one know how much when we do the job. For now, I am good to
go, but by the time we are into October, if I haven't started to hear the
ominous click-click-click, I will have the front end work done as indicated
by today's inspection.

By that time, I expect to have made a decision about tires and possibly new
wheels as well. I have very mixed emotions about the Aero wheels on the car,
and would like something else. The oak green V8 on Jeremy's website has the
"right" wheels for that car, and if I have really, REALLY big ONES, it might
be 16" BBS's like those for me, too. I have some real estate for sale now,
and if it sells this "selling season", well, just look out. (Now where was
the link to those big cams....."

As far as the oil pressure is concerned, I suspect that it is a ground
somewhere, and hope, that's HOPE that it is not in the instrument cluster as
that tends to absorb an awful lot of wrench time. We are also going to work
on the inop heated seats and inop heated rear window defogger, and the
cruise control...all of which I really want to work.

Having been underneath the car today, as well as having the belly pan off,
and peering into the engine bay from above, I have NO doubt that this one is
worth the effort. Obvious moral to the story to begin with, is NEVER, and I
mean NEVER buy one of these cars that has lived extensively above the rust
belt...IE: New England or upstate New York....

The cover, the joint, or the entire shaft?

If the shaft, please let us know where you are able to source one...

Re: IC oil gauage issues, mine works fine but, on occasion, after
turning off the car, the needle hesitates, then moves to peg at the far
right. Turning the ignition back on swings the needle back to 0.

I assume it's a bad ground?
