[V8] Reading ECU codes on V8Q

BTDT more than once on the MIL/CEL on the V8s ... somehow the state of
Kaleefohnia has gotten in their mind that 49 state Audi V8Qs from 1990 and
1991 have the MIL/CEL connected and won't pass a car unless the light works.
After having done the job I can't say that I'd recommend everyone tear open
the console and find the connector ends wrapped in the looms to make the
dash lamp functional ...

I have an old dash illumination light from a 4000 I stuff in the glovebox
and a length of copper wire I cut from a loom to read the codes out ... the
link I forwarded from Scott Mockry's site a few days ago has all the
information on creating an LED code reader and where it is connected and
what you have to short out to get the codes to read. It also lists the
codes you will read from the ECU, TCU and IC ... here's the link again:

As a note....... you do not need anything special to pull codes from these
cars. The check engine bulb connector needs to be hooked up which is located
in the center console area. & you can use a simple paper clip to touch the
two diagnostic pins to activate the light. The paper clip is like how you'd
have to do it on the older cars with a fuse in the fuel pressure relay for
5sec.
Or I hade up two connectors on a 10gauge wire & it's simple now.
