How tough is California? Let's say I just bought '90 V8 that has had
its transmission converted to a 5-speed manual. No problem registering
it in NH. Now let's say a job change forces a move to California. How
tough will it be to register it and get it through an inspection?

My concern would be, IIRC, that the Feds require emissions testing to be
done with the engine/transmission combo. So if the engine couldn't be
had with a 5-speed, it may not fly.

Anyone in the Golden State have experience with that?

(If this job thing does happen, 2 or 3 Audis may be for sale. And after
just pumping all that money into them. Doh!)
