[V8] no start sometimes

Not true Dave. If the car doesn't start for any reason, it will still throw 
a code for the engine speed sensor. Doesn't mean the sensor is bad. This is 
why pulling codes is merely a guideline. It still takes experience and know 
how to properly diagnose a know start problem.

While your testing method may work,, in my opinion, it seems like allot of 
work.  A simpler method would be to cool the sensors when the suspected 
failure happens. This can be done with them in the car and simply pouring 
cold water over them. Or better yet, test the resistance with them installed 
when the suspected failure occurs
