[V8] ABS Tester for V8

The dealer in Waterville, Maine used to have one. Even better, a mechanic
who works there (still as far as I know) was trained by Audi on the V8.
(Yes: he's not a kid!).
About a dozen years ago the dealership had a catastrophic fire that began in
the parts area and was caused by a faulty fluorescent fixture ballast, or
one that went kuku in the middle of the night. The fire took out the much
parts area and the front end of the service area including about half the
service bays. It also took out most of the showroom and
executive/administrative area. It was a constructive total loss.
The dealer has rebuilt into a much bigger facility. I took my V8 there a
year and a half ago to have them trouble shoot the ABS (thinking that they
had the Bosch tester), and a couple of other things. When they went to look
they could not find the ABS tester which they hadn't used in more than a
dozen years the service manager said. It is gone and they presume burned up
in the fire.
My regular mechanic has not had time to spend on my ABS yet, so the ABS in
my car is still inop. I think we will find a bad sensor, although he did
check all of them initially.
I have also searched on eBay from time to time, and found a Bosch diesel
truck ABS tester once but the seller was unable to tell me what it could or
could not do, and had NO idea what I was talking about when I asked if it
would work on an Audi V8.
At least I now have a new "bomb" in my car and new UFO's....brakes work like
arresting cables. Perhaps deep into the winter John will have some more
time to work on my car...the ABS is the last thing to get done, too. (Oh,
yeah. My seat heaters don't work, and there is a window switch on the
driver's panel that doesn't light, and the door switch for the interior
lights doesn't turn the lights on, but other than that everything
works....for a while.)
