I think Roger said it: a good set of UFOs provide great braking, and it will be 
cheaper to source new UFOs and rebuild the current set-up than it will be to 
design, source, and (re-)build non-UFOs replacements.
If you don't want UFOs, then here goes: I don't think you can use the words 
"Porsche" and "economical" in the same sentence.  Porsche builds some of the 
best brakes in the world; you pay for that. I don't know the pricing of Corvette 
brakes, but Googling production numbers, it seems they build fewer Corvettes 
than Porsches [1]. The Cadillac CTS-V brakes are Brembos, get good reviews, and 
may be worth looking into (109 feet from 60mph) [2].
