So, I know this is one of the typically beaten to death topics in the T44/V8
crowd.. but I'm just looking at maybe getting a set of calipers and making
some brackets when I have a bit of down time coming up here.
I really like the Merc ATE setup I've seen in a few variations, but I'm
looking to make something slightly different I think.
I was wondering what sort of opinions everyone has on a few different
calipers for a 15"/16" setup, hopefully outperforming the UFO's.
I've been looking at Vette Calipers from C5/C6's, C5 Z06 and C6 base/sport
package brakes.
Porsche 996 rear brakes (2 piston, 30mm/28mm), Porsche front 911(2001+)
brake calipers,
and then the Turbo 997 rear's as well. And, of course, the "big reds" if I
could shoe-horn them in there.
Maybe not the greatest list ever, but I have especially been interested in
the rear calipers from some of the hopped up porsches, as its a nice middle
ground. Many have great success in the VW community, especially on the
Passat I remember the boxster brakes were a great option.
Anyway, the hope is to have it fit 16/15's, be fairly economical, and a bit
better than OE UfO's. I'd say maybe 20-30% more braking force would be
amazing, shortening 60-0 time a few feet.
Any comments suggestions etc, would be very helpful here.
