Worth looking into there, for sure.
As for the Corvette calipers, I'd say the only ones worth looking into after
more research are likely the C6 ones. 6 piston calipers, and pretty
incredibly robust. Also, you're looking at between 108-170 per caliper new
or rebuilt, perhaps less from a used source on the forums. So, not too bad,
but a bit on the heavy side. These were used by Baer in the Miata BBK and
proved to be incredibly heavy compared to wilwood or Alcon alternatives.
I'm pretty interested in the Boxster S idea, if Apkiol can get brackets for
smaller wheels. It looks like most of their stuff is in line with what's
always been done with the A8 large rotor and Big reds, locking one into a
17in wheel or better, typically.
I will keep looking around and mucking about, I'm going to have to decide on
something soon so I can get to work.
As per Kent's suggestion, yes, you got a point, UFO's are great brakes,
and stop pretty well. I have a set of pretty new rotors that I'll be able
to resell along with all the OE hardware for a decent price when I swap so
that's a consideration here, as well. Either way, I want to be able to tow
with this car in the Near future, so Brakes+rear chassis brace+ overall
bracing are on my short list of things to do. No worries though, I agree
most people wouldn't need these sorts of things.
