The 93 had been sidelined because of a pretty serious transmission fluid leak, and I didn't look into it at the time because I just didn't have the time or the inclination. Now, I have both (well, I should really be working on income-producing work, but I'm having a good automotive week, so I'm running with it).
Anyway, after pulling the belly pan and adding in a couple of quarts of transmission fluid, I start the car and see that the braiding on what I think is one of the transmission cooler lines is ripped and it's spitting fluid at a decent rate.
Photos are here: http://cid-a0eec9d1fb38945b.skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/Audi%20V8Q%201993%20-%20Pearl?ct=photos&sa=195997895
If those are actually the transmission cooler lines (I can't see what else they'd be, since they go up to the radiator, and leak transmission fluid), would you folks recommend going to a transmission shop to get this done, or can my usual mechanic take care of them? What's a good source for the things? I don't see them as items in the online catalogs at SJM or AutohausAZ or anything?
