[V8] Canadian V8's

Many people have successfully imported Audis from Canada over the years
- urS6 and urS6 Avants were very popular imports for several years, due
to rarity or the 95 and 95.5 model years in the US. First step is to
call AOA with the VIN(s) and get a US DOT/EPA compliance letter. You
need the 'unleaded fuel only' gas door sticker and a US spec speedo and
gas gauge (must read 'unleaded fuel only'). The last items are normally
required during the inspection for titling purposes.
I would well imagine there are some articles at S-cars.org, and you can
find some owners there that have done it.
Kent Anderson's group may also be a good resource. Unfortunately,
karquattro.com is listed as an attack site on google. I'm not sure if
they are still in operation, and with the uproar in ACNA over the last
few years whether his is still affiliated with Audi. The number used to
be 1.877.KAR.3814

> Dave...are you certain that the Canadian V8's have a DOT sticker? I can't find any on mine on the door pillars. There is, of course, a Transport Canada decal. Under the hood and affixed to the top of the front x-frame there's a decal stating, among other things, that the car conforms to US EPA regulations.

There are some small things that have to be changed with vehicles coming up from the states . Things like Day lite running lights have to be working . I don't know all the laws on this but I know it isn't that hard anymore. ( both ways ) Back in the late 80's Free trade agreement between Canada and the USA established guild lines. I believe they started by charging a duty for cars built and assbly. Canada/US/Mexico that were 15 years or younger, the next year it was 14ys and younger and so on.

NAFTA cars are vehicles that have been manufactured or have been assembled in Canada/US/Mexico with a minimum of 55% content. A "NAFTA" vehicle is exempt of ANY tariffs, duties or taxes when sold in Canada/US/Mexico. A "NAFTA" vehicle can be easily determined by looking at the VIN number. If the first character of the VIN is a NUMBER then it is DUTY FREE. If the first character is a letter, the vehicle is subject to a 6.1% Import Duty.
