[V8] starter / serpentine belt BTDT?

That lower bolt is a 12mm, IIRC. But, it's been about three years since I've
touched one.

That looks right on the upper bolt, but it's hard to see in that pic. It
should be in line with the top of the starter. It's about 8" long, and
screws into the starter about an inch. So, it's quite a way into the
transmission. It's definately a 10mm allen, though. I (along with others)
definately remember that much.

I did a little more work on getting the old starter out this morning. I'm
going ridiculously slowly, because this is the first time I've done more
than an oil change on the car, and it seems like I spend most of my time
learning lots and lots about what doesn't work (which I suppose, leaves you
with what does work).

I've got two new photos up before I go any further.
The first thing baffles me. The photo is of the current starter,
highlighting the lower starter bolt. It's hard to get a good angle, but the
problem is this. According to what I've read so far, this is supposed to be
an 8mm allen bolt, but even a 10mm wrench spins freely in the socket. It
seems like a 12mm allen wrench would fit. Is this right? I believe I'm
looking at the correct bolt, using the new starter as a guide. There's
another allen bolt to the left of the lower starter bolt that is 10mm, but
it doesn't appear to have anything to do with the starter at all. Photo:

The second photo is of the view from the passenger side of the engine, once
the distributor cap was removed. The circled location appears to me to be
the upper starter bolt, but I'd like to do a sanity check before I start
removing it. Photo:

Thanks again!
