... seems odd that a clutch pedal assembly would take enough load for it to
break ... I've done the over center spring on both my cars though, and I've
never had to do the same on any of my other quattros.  I do seem to recall
that the pivot seemed excessively worn on one of mine too.  Perhaps I should
pull the pedal on the 5kCSQA and compare it to a V8 unit ...

We decide to dig out my two V8 5 speeds from 18" of snow.  Well, we  
had moved the pearl one and I went to move it again after we set up  
the jumper cables and...damn!  The clutch pedal went to the floor.   
So we figured it was either the clutch master or slave.  Upon closer  
inspection it appears the clutch pedal BROKE -- apparently where the  
clutch pedal mounts to the master cylinder!  Needless to say,  
tomorrow....

Has this happened to anyone else before?
