Another approach, which I use almost all the time now, is to soak with
penetrating oil, and avoid standard open ended wrenches and go directly to a
set of vise grips. A needle nose vise grip on the receiver fitting and a
standard vice grip on the hose fitting pretty much assures a clean break
without rounding over the fittings, or your knuckles.......
