The reduction of additives has been of concern on the motorcycle boards
I'm on too, a couple brands of diesel engine oil (still have the full
additive package) are the rage. Synthetic is a no go for old bikes, the
wet clutches don't work too well when they're all slicked up.
Try that Lucas goop they sell in auto parts stores, might get you through
inspection if blowby is the problem. I tried it in V8Q #2 (smokes out
the tailpipe) and it did improve a bit, not much though.
No more emissions inspections here for anything pre-OBDII, just a visual
and vin scan. They still charge the same as a full inspection though.
STP has "Smoke Treatment" additive, no BTDT, but it looks like the
thickest of the bunch. Change the oil and add the additive as close to
inspection time as possible helps too.
