[V8] V8 Oil Consumption & Amsoil .......

I've been using Rotella 15W40 in everything for a couple of years, switching
to the 5W40 synthetic in two cars that must be able to go in the winter. I
just did a round of Delo stuff, not sure who makes it at the moment, but
it's in 2 V8's and the 91 Avant as of the last week or two. I like the temp
range and understand the diesel engine oils have a bit more to offer than
standard oils. Up until I had my 1st V8 for awhile and then Mobil started
playing marketing games with the Mobil 1 line, I was using just that. When
I discovered the gallon bottles of Rotella, I changed and never looked back.

The reduction of additives has been of concern on the motorcycle boards I'm
on too, a couple brands of diesel engine oil (still have the full additive
package) are the rage. Synthetic is a no go for old bikes, the wet clutches
don't work too well when they're all slicked up.
Try that Lucas goop they sell in auto parts stores, might get you through
inspection if blowby is the problem. I tried it in V8Q #2 (smokes out the
tailpipe) and it did improve a bit, not much though. No more emissions
inspections here for anything pre-OBDII, just a visual and vin scan. They
still charge the same as a full inspection though.
STP has "Smoke Treatment" additive, no BTDT, but it looks like the thickest
of the bunch. Change the oil and add the additive as close to inspection
time as possible helps too.

I enjoy escargot, but I prefer fast food.
