[V8] Vehicle Speed Sensor - V8 5-speed

I saw a speed sensor for a '91 200q offered on the marketplace.  I was about to see if it was available when I decided to check TFA.  The V8 P/N is 016 409 191 while the 200q/20v is given as 012 409 191C.  The numbers are close ... probably due to the fact that they are similar parts for different vehicles ... 

I may buy it just to play with ... but I thought it also made sense to see if there were any out there who have been down this road before ... 

The symptoms on my car are that the speedo is intermittent ... the speed signal on the trip computer stops at the same time.  After a few minutes the speedo/odo begins working again.  Has anyone dealt with this issue on a V8 5-speed?  I understand the part is NLA, so I wonder if there is some similar speed sensor that can be adapted ...
