... did you let the screen dry? The deposits I found are invisible when the
screen is wet with fuel. Of course the best example was the fuel screen
from the Fox ... That one had a weird problem where the engine would lose
power when the tank was less than 1/4 full and you took a hard left turn ...
got so bad I lost a pump one time in a turn. A new pump didn't fix the
problem ... one day I was looking in the tank through the hole for the
sender and saw the screen ... bought a new one and the problem was solved.
Of course one person's "ridiculously loud" is another person's "typical" ...
but a pump making a lot of noise means that something isn't working right
and who knows when it will fail. I guess I wouldn't take a car with a loud
pump on a real long trip without having a replacement at hand ...

When I pulled the pump on V8 #2 because it was ridiculously loud, I
found....nothing. No "lint" on the filter screen or anything like that, and
a visual inspection of the inside of the tank showed it to be remarkably
clean. Put the pump back in, and it's still ridiculously loud for a reason
I'll never know. Ultimately, my solution to this will be to turn the stereo
up.
