Not me...
I think it is safe to assume the bottom end is OK, but you would have
to verify that before doing the heads. On the bright side, you can
replace the rings while you are in there and also replace every seal
on the motor. When I did mine, the cost was under the $1300 for a
used motor, and mine is good as new.
The heads are actually easy to rebuild since they share parts with the
16V motors.
It is truly amazing how much better they run when the combustion
chambers have gas instead of oil in them.
Just thinking out loud to myself here, when the motor is out, it sure
is easy to change the rack boot....
and that leaky hose...
hey - there is the front seal of the transmission...
maybe you should just crush it.
