Ed is right, the rings are part of the hub/outer CV assembly, and therefore not affected by the brake kit. However, the sensors are, and it's as simple as finding the original connectors and shorting them. BTDT on a ton of Audi's, including my sister's TT.

As for the ABS, the CV's were probably changed when they swapped to teh 5-speed (they are different) and therefore a sensor may have been hit when reinstalling. There is a way to pull codes such that the exact sensor can be pinpointed, it was discussed on the list within the last three months or so. I think Justy pointed out the exact procedure, but I'm not 100% sure about that.
