Nick, you are correct, mine are fist generation setup found on the European
c4 bodied cars as well as the early S8. While the caliper design itself is
slightly different than the US spec HP2's, the overall diameter of the setup
is no bigger.The issue with the US spec wheel fitment, is that the US
caliper is mounted farther out past the hub. This causes the face of the
caliper to hit the spokes or inside face of many sub-17" wheels. This
could be fixed with spacers, or mounting the caliper further inboard. The
European HP2 are not threaded, so the mounting bolt passes through the
caliper and threads into the steering knuckle.The later generation HP2
calipers have threaded holes. In this case, the bolt passes through the
steering knuckle,and bolts to the caliper. This is why the US calipers are
pushed farther out.
