Your gauges are probably just fine.  What you need to do is check the
harness connections, and then pull the cluster, disassemble it, clean the
contacts between the various boards, and coat them with a contact
enhancer such as Stabilant 22 or the Caig labs versions.  BTDT, resolved
the problem going on a decade.
