Have you tried to heat the bolt up ... maybe with it soaking a bit ,it might of helped. Then I would hit it with the impact again.
To save your pain and suffering I would strongly suggest when bleeding the system that you use the pressure method apposed to using the pump method.
The pump method ( pumping up the brakes with your foot ) often pushes the piston past it's usual point of travel in the Master cylinder.
This cause the rubber components to fail. A flush every year of brake system is a good idea because it get rid of debris and water molecules.
The reason your caliper pop was because the brake pad was at it lowest limit (worn out) .... still that shouldn't have happened. hope this helps superdave.
