[V8] Oh, Doh! And cruise...

First off I'm assuming that the speed works but the odo does not. I have some BTDT on the V8 odo ... and I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it. There is an odd drive gear mechanism for the odo, and I doubt they are available anywhere. The only reason I could repair it was that I had another speedo to pull parts from.

If you've already verified the adjustment of the pedal switches and found that the line pulled at the pump will hold a vacuum my money would be on the column switch. I've got BTDT there too ... and it seems to me the way they routed the cable at the pivot causes the wires to be stressed and break.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

Subject: [V8] Oh, Doh! And cruise...
To: "V8List Fans" <v8 at audifans.com>

Anyone have any idea's what would make my odometer quit on me... What a
pain! Just as it was up and running the other day I thought I noticed it
not ticking. Yup, confirmed not working... great. So, I would rather stare
into my Miata's headlights for an hour than take the dash/ic out again...
but hey, why not! My guess's are that a gear is funny in the actual
instrument cluster, or there is something wrong at the transmission.
Stumped me since I've touched neither in well over a year now, and I was
using the trip odo not two months back and it was ticking away fine. Put
about 3k on the car since purchase and the odo worked fine...

Any idea's where to start?

Also, I can't find much on how to fix the cruise, but I started on that
earlier too. The diaphram under the intake is hooked up and the switch does
nothing, no light, etc. Where to start after that? Fuses all check out
right now I just looked at em yesterday... Maybe a bad relay?

Thanks all.

~Nick, running a mile a minute..
