And the often get very fine holes that cause them to mist under
pressure so you don't know its happening all the time. If you smell
fuel... check!
Mine didn't cause a fire, but they were misting fuel and it was only
noticed when the mechanic had his head near the lines and I goosed the
throttle.

A PSA for all the other V8 lovers out there. There's been a string of
engine
bay fires due to the 4 braided fuel lines giving out under normal
conditions. Please check for ANY defects in these lines on your cars!
Keep
in mind these are aging vehicles and some preventative maintenance and
replacement of parts may someday save your car!
These lines are constructed with a hard plastic line in the center, a
rubber
tube surrounding, and finally the stainless steel braided mesh on the
outside. A weakness in any of these layers can cause a leak, and rusty
hose
ends are even more prone.
