Changing/flushing tranny fluid on ANY automatic trans can be accomplished quite easily WITHOUT any special machines or equipment, and you will get 99% of the old fluid out, just like the commercial flushing machines do.

Here's the process:
Disconnect the return line going from the cooler back to the trans, at the trans. Put this line in a 5 gallon bucket. Now start the engine, and watch the line. As soon as it spits air, shut off the engine! As long as this rule is observed, there will be no issues.
Now, if you are intent on changing the filter/screen in the pan, drop the pan and do your thing. Having just evacuated the pan means now when you drop the pan - no mess!
Okay, once the pan is back in place you "fill" the trans, and then once again start the engine. Once this line spits, shut it off, and repeat the process until all the old fluid has been pumped out and replaced by the new.

This is a fool-proof method that will guarantee removal of the old oil in the torque converter, which otherwise remain. I recommend flushing through a few more quarts than the total capacity to ensure a good job.
I have been using this method for years and have never had any problems with it. Most shops will try to convince you that there will be problems if you do this because of course they want you to pay them big bucks to use their special flushing machine which is in no way superior.

As one very smart man on e said: The problem with common sense is it's not so common any more!

Good Luck
