[V8] starter fail

I needed some stuff to work on my won't-go-up RR window. I hop in the V8 and ... 
almost nothing. Not even a click. I turn the key, the dash lights up, but no 
love from the start.

In the past, sometimes I'd hit a dead spot (on the starter? on the flywheel?)
and the starter would spin fast, but the engine wouldn't turn.  If I pushed
the car in gear a bit, it seemed to get past the dead spot and start.

But this time, no such luck. Thinking it might be a weak battery, I brought it 
into the house and charged it up, from 12.5V to 13.3V. I put the battery back in 
the car and -- no change. Lights light up, but no whir from the starter.

Is my starter dead? The solenoid? Something else?
