[V8] so sad, so long

Or perhaps say it isn't so.
I well remember reading about your accident, and wish you and your wife
well.
It is sad to see another V8 lister go by the wayside, and for my part, I
hope you will continue to lurk, if not post here. This site is great for
learning and sharing the pain and joys of V8 indentured service, but it is
also a pretty good place to post irrelevancies, and getting a bit of a laugh
from those of others. I enjoy making a sort of career out of that!
Your characterization of my angst at selling my last V8 was spot on. Once
it was gone, I missed the car, and agonized until I found another. I am
glad that I did, but I am under few illusions: if I was driving the car
hard every day, the service life of the car would be measurable in
depressingly short terms. As it is, at around four to five hundred miles per
month, I can enjoy this car and feel no guilt: worse comes to shove, and I
can park it for a month or two.
All of which brings me back to a V8 for you. Maybe you should adopt a more,
ah, patient attitude toward your own V8 experience. Certainly they are
dropping in price in the market so fast that you might once again have a V8,
if for no other reason than to be a little toy to play with from time to
time.
If not then all will be well, too. I have wondered how it might be if I
were to give up this current V8. I have wondered if as my wife and I move
to a sort of retirement, if we shouldn't replace both her '94 and my '90
Audi with something less expensive by the pound and that is also much
younger in terms of age and miles. ONE car to replace two.
And I can clearly hear the admonitions of my late Mother in the back of my
mind as she says, "There will ALWAYS be another car.".
Best of luck to you!
Roger
