That's one of the things I love about the 4000Q (my dd). Seperate belts for
everything. I know the serpentine setup is "progress", and certainly more
efficient in terms of the space it takes, but I still prefer the v belts.
I actually dealt with a situation with the V8 in regards to the single belt.
My car started leaking power steering fluid while going through Amarillo, TX
on our way to Vegas. I went through a LOT of atf/oil to get there and back.
However, I couldn't just let it stay empty, as the pump would have siezed
and I would have lost everything :( So, I stoped once an hour and poured in
one quart of atf and one quart of oil. I used the oil in the mix because it
was a bit thicker and leaked a bit slower. Or, should I reword that to say
it leaked not as fast. There was nothing slow about the rate at which it was
leaking. We drove that car all over Vegas helping Zay with his V8 (former
lister) and boy did it smoke!!
Yes, the climate control will work fine without the A/C compressor on the
car. Just as if the car didn't have A/C at all.
