[V8] Lifter tick

How much ATF did you use? And for how long?
I used a quart, and put maybe a thousand miles on it.  Not sure if it  
would matter, but I drove gently just in case the ATF is not as good a  
motor oil as motor oil...
At any rate, I think you need to get some run time for the cleaning  
action to happen.  Pulling lifters is a PITA to say the least.  The  
oil retention valve should have no effect after oil pressure is  
established either. Its job is to make the lifters/cams get oil sooner  
after a cold start.
