[V8] amplifier ground

... depending on the signal levels involved you need to be very careful in
how you connect the ground. To start, if the amp was already connected to
the frame of the car and appeared to work fine then it shouldn't really
matter where you ground the amp. If you hear any alternator noise or other
buzzing in the speakers it indicates you are dealing with a ground loop
situation. A ground loop means that there is a small AC or DC voltage
difference in the ground between the source of the signal and the amplifier
input. You can eliminate this with an isolation transformer (usually), or
by making sure that both the source and destination are grounded at the same
point.

Since we're talking about a V8, with the battery under the rear seat, I'd
run a nice heavy cable directly to the negative lug on the battery ...

So easy question... Again... How did others do this? My amp is on the
drivers side of the hump in the trunk mounted with some bitty screws.

But I need to move my ground. Wondering if you guys think I can usw a
sheermetal screw into the area there. The fuel tank is right below it, so
a bit concerned there.

Any good suggestions other than that within a foot or so of that spot.
