I haven't followed any specific mix ratio. I only choose which to add based
on a very vague consciousness of how much of which I've put in previously.
At one point I thought I may have used Mobil 1 to the point that it was the
predominant substance in there, but have seen no real difference either way.
When I had mostly the Pentosin equivalent in there (Rykon 32 I think), I did
notice some heaviness in the steering for just a minute or so on very cold
mornings. Other than that, no difference with alternative fluids in
operation, feel, or amount of power assist received.

Makes sense, ATF swells the seals a bit, evidently with no adverse effects
based on anecdotal evidence.
Unscrupulous car dealers used to pour brake fluid into the hydraulics of
certain English cars which were popular back in the day, it would almost
instantly swell all seals and stop the pervasive leaks. Lord knows what
nightmares the owners would have to go through later. Out of warranty, out
of mind in the used car biz.
I'm going to add about 1/2 quart(?) of Mobile 1 ATF at the next hydraulic
system flush as a prophylactic measure. Is there any particular
ratio/amount of syn ATF to Hydraulic oil you've found to be a good
yardstick?
BCNU,
Yahoo nuked my website with no warning.
