Makes sense, ATF swells the seals a bit, evidently with no adverse
effects based on anecdotal evidence.
Unscrupulous car dealers used to pour brake fluid into the hydraulics of
certain English cars which were popular back in the day, it would almost
instantly swell all seals and stop the pervasive leaks. Lord knows what
nightmares the owners would have to go through later. Out of warranty,
out of mind in the used car biz.
I'm going to add about 1/2 quart(?) of Mobile 1 ATF at the next hydraulic
system flush as a prophylactic measure. Is there any particular
ratio/amount of syn ATF to Hydraulic oil you've found to be a good
yardstick?
BCNU,
Yahoo nuked my website with no warning.
