[V8] Transmission compatibility

... that's it. I've got a couple V8Q AT brains right here ... one is marked
as coming from a 1990 V8, but it is a Bosch part, P/N B 260 502 151. The
other is an Audi part 441 927 156M, and it is my understanding that the "M"
version has the changes to the shift points. At one point I was considering
copying the chip in the "M" box, but for some reason I never followed
through. The EPROM is socketed, so it should be fairly easily done.

The EPROM in the "M" coded TCU is "33376303B2" and the Bosch box EPROM is
labeled "A151C1111" ... If someone had an Audi TCU from a 1990 model it
would be interesting to open it up to see what number was on that EPROM.
Other than the EPROMs the circuits appear identical and the circuit board
part numbers match identically.

I don't have access to an AT equipped V8, so I can't test them ...

Yes, the computer controls the sport mode. It takes information from the TPS

and uses it along with other data I'd imagine (RPM, Road speed, etc) and
determines the correct shift points. According the the factory info I have,
it shouldn't shift into fourth until 124, IIRC. However, mine will shift
just like your 91-93. I did drive a 90 that wouldn't shift into fourth at
all in the driving we did with it(I don't think we exceeded about 105). BTW,

mine is a 91. Wonder if they might have changed the programming for that?
