[V8] tire musings

I'd have to agree on the Potenza S03... Great summer performance, with wet
traction. They were replaced by the RE050A, and I haven't tried those, so I
can't say there. I have used them on a TT, OG Saab 900, and Subaru SVX with
great results. Not one complaint except they wear out for me after two
seasons (hard driving!). That's not a big deal to me.

Of course, like Tony said, you will get ZERO help in *ANY* snow or ice with
those. You can expect that from any of the summer-only performance tires.
I never choose the complete dry traction tires either - even condensate on
the roads here (humid days in the summer) makes them unusable for any
non-race day driving - not even an option for me, so I can't speak to
those. A friend of mine has used the Kumho Ecstas on his 'summer only, dry
traction only' Integra Type R, and he really likes them.

I'm currently on some Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 XL on my TT - and love them.
So far, zero complaints on them as well. Again, summer-only performance,
good wet/dry traction.

Two of my friends who normall shudder to think of an "all season" tire
actually recommended the Potenza RE960s, and they are fairly cheap! I
bought a set for my V8q, but haven't assembled the beast far enough for them
yet...

For my winter tires (around here, we get about 10 or so 3+ inch snows a
season, and a few bouts of ice storms) I'm still on some Michelin Pilot
Alpin PA3 Green X XL tires on the TT - I can't complain. I had the same
ones on the SVX as well, and had no complaints.

There are plenty of tires I have complained about, but they aren't even
worth mentioning ;)
