Hey all, well Alan's recent post about fuel consumption got me to do
a little poking around on the 5-speed. I'd been wondering about the
MAF sensor, as I just gave the key's away on that 87 Saab project,
and had to swap a few to get it right. Anyway, the final test on
the Audi says "increase engine speed briefly...voltage must increase
to 3-5V"....what it should say is "increase engine speed
briefly.....voltage will increase for a microsecond to 3-5V"......but
sure enough, it passed the tests. Then I tested the Coolant temp
sensor(on the rear of rt head) which was supposed to give 1.5-3ohms,
and I got infinity....requirement was coolant to be approximatly 68
degrees, and I got lucky as it was 64 today, and I'll call that
approx. My question, is most of the parts places show a sensor with
a white body(mine's orange/looks old). Autohaus say's call and check
in with stock color first. Anyone replaced this with one of the
white ones/part #? They're $20-30. The "new" OX sensor that was in
there when I bought the car was all sooted up, and the car ran better
with a new one, but is still running a bit rich/sooty.....Love to see
it be a $20-30 coolant sensor.....Sincerely Tom
