I'll second this- for years I dreaded doing this job, and it turned
out to be pretty easy.  Door panel removal is easy and painless (knew
that already) but taking apart the door itself enough to get to the
regulator etc isn't bad at all.

The motors and regulator gearbox can both be removed pretty easily and
respond very well to 'reconditioning'-  I'll look later and see if
there's anything I can contribute.
