Subject: [V8] Clevis and Butthead
So has anyone ever dealt with Force 5 Auto? I ended up buying a replacement
servo and master cylinder from them, but when it arrived it was a mismatched
servo and MC that didn't even go together (I posted some pics of it). So I
contacted them (on a Thursday) and they said they'd send out the correct one
right away (which ended up being the following Tuesday so it was almost two
weeks before it arrived).
The first thing I noticed with the replacement was that it had "'95 S6"
written on it, but it looked pretty similar to the one in my car, so I
pulled mine out to compare them. The next thing I noticed was the date
stamps. Mine says 10/89 and his says 11/95.
Anyway, so far I think the only real difference is the bracket at the end of
the clevis that connects to the brake pedal. The V8 bracket is slightly
narrower, but I was able to swap the one from the old clevis so that
particular thing won't be an issue. I'm just wondering if any of you can
think of any other reason to not use this servo. For all I know it has
internal parts that apply different amounts of pressure that the brake
system in the V8 can't work with. I'm always open to input.
Seamus
